Overview
Perched on a cliff side overlooking the Lombok Strait, Amankila is a haven of tranquility. Chic and understated, it draws on the traditional architecture of the region, and is possibly one of the most romantic destinations in Bali.

Mount Agung provides a dramatic backdrop for Amankila, a secluded seaside resort where stilted villas offer exceptional views from their hillside locations amongst frangipani and bougainvillea, and are connected to the resort’s facilities by raised walkways. Guests can relax around the signature three-tiered pool or at the Beach Club on Amankila’s beach and there's oodles of lush countryside to discover. This is real hotel heaven!

Know Before You Go

Rooms: Amankila’s suites are elevated to take advantage of the spectacular sea and hillside views.The 34 free-standing suites, with their alang alang roof thatching, are fashioned as beach houses with a twist.Suites are connected to the reception and restaurant area by raised walkways.

Garden Suites
Each suite features wide window views, a canopied, king-size bed and bathroom offers a soaking tub and separate shower which give way to coconut-shell dressing areas. The suite’s outdoor terrace is furnished with a daybed, coconut-shell table and rattan chairs.

Ocean Suites:
These are identical to Garden Suites but have ocean views.

Pool Suites:
Private swimming pools, enclosed within walled courtyards, are featured in six of the suites, four of which can be connected to adjacent garden or ocean suites for family or friends travelling together.

Kilasari Suite:
This suite is perched high on the hillside, with views overlooking the sea and has its own 12m infinity pool.

Indrakila Suite:
This suite enjoys privileged sea views past the temple and far up the east coast. It has its own lounging bale and a private pool.

Amankila Suite:
This suite includes two bedrooms opening onto a large terrace with a private aquamarine-tile pool, two lounging bales, sunbeds, lily ponds, views over the beach and Amuk bay and a private butler service. It is ideal for guests who want complete privacy or for two couples who wish to stay together.

Features: The Beach Club is located at the base of the cliff, a five minutes’ walk below the main resort. Guests can either walk to the beach or be driven there in an open-air buggies. Set within a grove of coconut palms and partially shaded by a frangipani tree, is Amankila’s largest swimming pool. Windsurfers, boogie boards, kayaks and Hobie cats are available at the Beach Club. Amankila's staff will assist guests with water sports and provide lessons or sailing partners if required. Eight private lounging bales are set along the sandy beach, tucked into the foliage for added privacy.

Traditional Balinese massage and beauty treatments are available in the privacy of guests' suites, in the specially-designated massage pavilion, or at the Beach Club where two teakwood massage tables are hidden away in a grove of coconut palms and flowering bushes.

Aside from the 41m Beach Club pool, Amankila’s signature three-tiered pool sits dramatically just below the lobby. Set into the cliff-edge, the three blue-tiled pools face the sea and flow one into the other down a stepped gradient similar to terraced rice paddies.

Dining: The Restaurant, located above the main pool overlooking the ocean, is open for dinner. The menu features a mix of Western and Indonesian cuisine. Adjacent to the Restaurant is Amankila’s Bar, also with views of the sea. The Terrace, set just back from the signature three-tiered pool is open for breakfast and lunch, and serves Asian and Western cuisine.

Afternoon tea is served daily in front of the Library, where local women dressed in sarongs and kebayas offer complimentary Indonesian ginger tea, Bali kopi (coffee) and local Balinese cakes.

The Beach Club offers a simple menu of salads, pizzas, Indonesian and Western light dishes for brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. Private dining is available in the suites 24 hours a day.

  • Yoga classes can be taken under the coconut trees surrounding the Beach Club, or in the privacy of guests’ suites.

  • For cruising and snorkeling, Amankila offers two outriggers designed after the jukung, a traditional Balinese fishing craft.
